It starts with connectivity. A quintessential component of the design is the lower band resembling people standing in unity. This is what ties it all together. They are lifting their arms as one in reverence of the four winds, symbolic of the vital breath of the universe and the changing rhythms of the earth. This is meant to convey the significance of Kuleana and the critical role we serve in supporting this cycle.

The design is, in itself, a story. Like the elements of nature we see the constituents of Kipuka. The rain on the mountain feeds the river which is harnessed by the people to cultivate the kalo. The cycle is perpetual, as the plants replenish the atmosphere with the sacred oxygen that brings more rain and the flow of connectivity continues in longevity.
